Time Period:1896-1897.

What I Thought:This was my fourth or fifth time reading this book.I really love it.It's got adventure, excitement, romance and it feels like you've gone back in time.It was in the teen section because of more romance, just so you know. I really love it :)

Maybe/Probably Nots

So I did a post with some not so well liked books a while back and this is something like it.Some I'm saying probably(most likely) not.The others maybe not.But first thank you to my new followers:

Thank you for following!

I can't remember if I thanked you yet so here you go :)
Now here we go:
Dragon Keep by Janet Lee Carey
A Probably.
Why?:One really bad scene with some bad words and actions to a dead dragon. It was really appalling.
It was depressing and the girl, was born with a dragon claw and her Mom made sure no one found out by killing them. There was some dark magic.

The Beast Of Noor by Janet Lee Carey
Why?:A bit depressing, the main character was a little corrupted by his shape shifting power, some ghost kinda stuff and fairies. I'm not sure if it's a maybe or a probably. It was just a bit dark.

The Dragon Of Noor by Janet Lee Carey
A Maybe.
Why?:Characters were off a bit again(just a bit though), a bit depressing overall I liked it.There were just some little parts.

Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
A Maybe.
Why?:Katniss was naked in front of her stylist who was a man.I didn't like that.It was violent because of all the killing and that made it depressing.I think they could have left out some of the kissing, but for the most part I thought the Katniss/Peeta was great.I'm kinda split in half by this book.I like it, but there are some parts I object to.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
A Probably.
Why?:It was exciting, but still depressing. The love triangle I didn't like.Confusing.I also didn't like them lying about Katniss being pregnant. Not as good as the first.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
A Probably.
Why?:Confusing, a little messed up(Peeta hating her etc.),depressing(everyone was using her) and sad.(Prim getting killed)

Emily Ever After by Anne Dayton and May Vanderbilt
Probably (for young teens) maybe for anyone else.
Why?:A lot of drinking(apparently it's something you do in NYC), she slept with her boyfriend(even though nothing happened and she resisted him afterward), her boyfriend kinda tricked her(a lot) and a little sad.Happy ending though.

O.K. And may I say that this is my opinion and I have nothing against the authors.Or anyone else who likes these books.

The Coming Of The Dragon

The Coming Of The Dragon by Rebecca Barnhouse.

Summery:Rune was a mysterious baby found alone on a ship.Amma, a strange woman had been waiting for him and took him in.He grew up never knowing who he was and learning many stories and tales from Amma. When someone awakes a dragon he sees it and tries to warn King Beowulf of the coming danger. He is to late.He loses Amma and the farmer and his sons that they lived with.He is very angry, he goes after the dragon with the sword and shield that were in the boat with him.He sees it,but doesn't succeed in fighting it.When the King takes ten men to go and fight it as a final resort, he isn't picked. He sees a vision from Amma and realizes that a slave that awoke the dragon is leading the King into danger. He runs and saves the King and joins him in his journey to kill the dragon. While everyone runs at the sight of it he helps the King and is named his heir when he dies. Now he has a lot of people behind him, but not everyone. And they are weak. One of the tribes like the Shylfings(Sp?) may attack. He is learning more and more about his history now that Amma is gone.Though he doesn't really want to be King, he must.

Romance:rune has a crush on Wyn and then discovers that she and his friend Ketil like each other, so he backs away.He is sad for a while, but is friends with her. When(Spoiler!) Rune is trying to make peace with the Shylfings they bring a peacemaker, like Amma, for him to marry. She ends up saving his life and he is already head-over-heels for her.

Language:P**s and S**t.

Violence:The kill the dragon, who killed a lot of people and destroyed farms.Rune gets bullied a bit by his step-family.

Other:They worshiped gods like Odin,Thor, Loki etc. Rune has several "visions".Amma was sort of a medicine woman who saw things.

Time Period:Early middle ages, with a bit of a viking feel.

What I Thought:weird, this is the second viking type book I've read this month!(Silver Sea)It took me a little bit to get into it, but once I did it was great.I loved the mix of viking/middle age and all the adventure.Rune, the king and many of the other characters were great and I loved them.I think that Rune wasn't to proud, didn't pretend to be what he wasn't and that is really admirable, as is he.

Mean Girls

Mean Girls by Hayley Dimarco.

Book Is About:Everything Mean Girls. How Mean Girls work/think,who they will come after and how to avoid that. The maybe mean side of us, wanting to get back or even. Why we were singled out by the Mean Girl and how to react to her. Having been the subject of many mean attacks, Hayley knows how it is and shares stories of what she has learned and experienced.Plus how you can beat the mean(with God of course).

Objectionable Content:Some of the mean things that Mean Girls did or do.

What I Thought:It was a good book.At some points I didn't agree with what she said and it sounded legalistic(she said we aren't supposed to be offended for ourselves only for God.That just seems a little off. It sounds nice, but off. We can't be just like Jesus.we can try and strive, but I don't think we can ever be like him.Cross, but who can die on the cross for all our sins?Only him.Nothing against the author though.). I haven't had anyone be a Mean Girl to me(seen a couple, but not to me) so this book might not have changed me as much as someone else.

Rating:2 and 1/2 stars.

Age:13 up.

So Not Happening

So Not Happening by Jenny B. Jones

Summery: Bella had it all, superstar Dad with a ton of money for her to spend, great friends, great boyfriend(Hunter). That is until her Mom met a guy on the internet and is marrying him after only six months!
She is being forced to live in Truman, Oklahoma with cows, two step-brothers (one hating her), no credit cards and grounding if she comes in late. She manages to make some friends... until she posts on her former advice column how she hates Truman and some nasty remarks. She is the lowest of the low.
When she is asked to quite the art class because she is "a distraction" she gets hooked in the newspaper because of her experience with writing. Bad news is the "Chief" (Luke) doesn't trust her. She uncovers something going on with the football players. A secret something. With her reporter skills on high she will find out!

Romance:Bella& Hunter(not much). Finally finding a friend, Lindy, Bella is helping her get noticed by her life-long friend who probably thinks of her as"just one of the guys". Spoiler!Bella and Hunter are on rocky ground. For the story Bella flirts with someone and in order to escape being found out by the secret group Luke kisses her.afterward she finds out Hunter has been cheating on her with her "best friend", Mia.

Violence:Spoiler! She gets held at gunpoint and almost forced to swallow a bunch of pills by the leader of the secret group. Someone falls off a cliff during the secret group's initiation.Another is put on life support. A fire deliberately set in their house(Bella's family's).

Other:She kinda cheated.Maybe.Her boyfriend definitely.

Time Period:Modern.

What I thought:It was funny, exciting, dramatic, girly girl and sweet.I liked it. It comes up really close to the Katie Lambright series.I don't know which is above :)

Rating & Age:5 stars. 14 up.

Max On Life

Max On Life by Max Lucado

Book Is About:Questions.Ironically it was more questions.Like my last Booksneeze review.Only this time they were questions sent to Max Lucado. The book is divided into six sections:Hope, Help, His/Hers, Home, Haves/Have Nots and Hereafter.I think I enjoyed Hereafter the most.It was mostly about Heaven. There were some questions that I tihnk every Christan has, will have or has had.Stuff like:How Do I Know I'm A Christian? How Can A Loving God Send People To Hell? When I Doubt God Does He Leave Me? Can God Use Anyone To Change The World?Even Bad People?

What I Thought:There wasn't anything I disagreed with and Max sometimes puts in the jokes that are pretty funny. It was lighthearted and easy to read.

Objectionable Content:One question was How Do I Tell My Kids About Sex? It wasn't descriptive and was really just him telling them to be open.

Age:Teens & Adults.

Now, my Mom didn't want me to read the section on Marriage so here is her review of it:
This section was basically a Q&A on the marriage relationship.Max encourages his readers to see love as a commitment rather than a feeling. His answers are good, and I think his strongest and best answer to any relational question is found when he says to seek Christ and the filling of the spirit. If both spouses are filled with Christ they grow closer to each other naturally. The content is for the married and those ready for marriage.Though never graphic, the content isn't really appropriate for younger Teens.

Rating(Mine): 2 and 1/2 stars.

I got this book free form Booksneeze.

Leven Thumps and The Whispered Secret

Leven Thumps and The Whispered Secret by Obert Skye.
See my review of the first book here.
Summery:Leven Thumps is now in Foo, but it's not exactly the fun and easy place he thought it would be.His day starts out by getting plunged into a ravine then almost trapped in a glue type thing that fills it. Then he gets tricked by some little creatures and buried alive. Barley escaping that he looses a secret and is trapped in a seed. When he gets out of that he has to go rescue winter who has been captured. He needs a break. And that isn't the really bad part. Sabine has joined up with a human who is now angry because of a toothpick(don't ask) and is going to help him build another gateway! And Winter's friend is unknowingly helping them.Geth is not going to last long as a toothpick, he needs to get to these towers to be put back into his true form.So much to do. And on top of it all he is running away from a secret....

Violence:There is some minor killing and plenty of dangerous situations.

Time Period:

What I Thought:I really liked it maybe more than hte first one because it was more grown up?Does that make any sense?

Rating & Age:4 stars. 12 up.

The Long Way Home

The Long Way Home by Andrew Klavan.

Summery:Charlie is a fugitive who doesn't even remember the crime he supposedly committed. So now he's going back to his home to see if he can find out who did murder his friend, Alex. while hiding from the police and a group of terrorists who he supposedly worked for.Is he the guy he thinks he is?With a little help from his friends and kinda girlfriend he'll find out the truth.Hopefully without anyone getting hurt.

Romance:Beth and Charlie. She is telling him about how they were together and their first kiss and he says he wishes he could remember what it felt like. Then it's like "they didn't talk for a while after that" and then just mentioning they kissed or something. He hugs her.

Violence:In detail fighting scenes. At least five or six.Someone is in a house alone with thugs sneaking up and nothing to defend them.Charlie has to get there and save that person.(no spoilers :)

Other:A group called the Homelanders is against America and is in league with terrorists.

Time Period:Modern.

What I Thought:It was better than the first one(read my review of it here).I tihnk maybe more exciting to me.I really like the way it was written too.

Rating & Age: 4 stars. 14 up.

The Silver Sea

The Silver Sea by Julia Golding.

Summery:Freydis is the daughter her father,Ohthere, a Jarl(captain), doesn't want. When their family's enemy(an arch-enemy family :) and pirate, Sulke, raids Ohthere's home and captures his only son, Toki, Ohthere pursues. He has given his daughter the mysterious Blue Man.An African taken form his home who has strange Blue tattoos. The Blue Man or Enno, has always resisted his slavery and had promised not to feel for his owners. But this time it's different. When left with the Sami, some reindeer herders who are under Ohthere's protection in turn for furs, Blue Man and Freydis learn that they have to save everyone from some great danger. They are White Wolf and Black Wolf.Meanwhile Toki had escaped and found another tribe of Sami who help him evade the pirates. He also finds a girl who dresses like a boy and can hold to his teasing.Looks like the one he has been looking for. He joins up with his father after driving off the pirates and they return to the Sami to find that the pirates attacked!
They were beaten, but Sulke learned where the woman and children were hiding and kidnapped Freydis. Now he goes to join the other rebellious pirates to fight the King's men.Can Ohthere and Toki catch up?

Romance:Freydis and Blue Man(a couple quick kisses and a few hugs),Aino and Toki(not much), there is a Sami boy who is like a rock star and is pretty prideful. There is lot of trouble because Blue Man tells him that Freydis thinks he's handsome.

Violence:A lot of people including one of the main characters are killed. Two or three fighting scenes.

Other:Norse gods like Thor and Loki. The Sami have some spirit gods. They seem Native American themed. Blue Man and Freydis have"visions/dreams"in a cave that tell them some prophecies.

Time Period:Medieval. But it seemed to me that a lot of times when the characters where talking it was like modern talk.

What I Thought:I really liked it. This author knows how to draw you in and writes pretty wholesome stuff. It was in the Teen section, for reasons, probably because of the god stuff and romance, but for a Teen book I thought it was great. It was very exciting.

Rating & Age: 5 stars. 14 up.
