The Book Of Jane

The Book Of Jane by Anne Dayton and May Vanderbilt.

Summery:Jane has it all, the job, the boyfriend, the apartment. Once her friend/neighbor, Lee,  wondered if she could make it and be so close to God if she didn't have everything going right. He really shouldn't have spoken. When she gets criticism from an arrogant boss's nephew about her being stereotype except for her boyfriend she gets steamed. At lest she proved him wrong with Ty her boyfriend. She thinks Ty is getting ready to propose to her. All the signs are pointing toward it. When the fateful night comes...he doesn't want to propose he's breaking up with her!She wants to stay in New York he wants to go to a smaller town. The next morning when she goes to work she learns she is fired because of some pictures of her doing business with a celeb for Charity. The picture was changed some so it looked like they were kissing. He was engaged and the other woman had his baby.It was all over the tabloids.Going home after the break up she finds that her brother who has trouble getting a job, is engaged and her parents are very excited. Not so much about her breakup with Ty.Jane's Mom kinda blames her actually. She goes back to her apartment to find that the roof broke and is now completely soaked. She calls her friend, who is having trouble and a lot of stress with her two daughters, housework and some problems with her pregnancy, to see if she will let her spend the night.
With all the stress going on she says no. She gets a room at a not to nice hotel, has to put her dog in the hospital, has a rash on her face and gets mugged. The next morning she is trying to figure it all out.She encounters Coates, the arrogant ex-boss's nephew, who leaves her even more confused. She had almost gone after Ty and had gone to his house when she had been out of an apartment, so when she gets a call to stay at a big, fancy hotel she is really confused! Did Ty send it?But when she gets a basket with some of her favorite gum and Ice cream she thinks it's her friend(whose name escapes me...). When her friend calls her to asks Jane to watch her eldest daughter because her youngest has to go to the emergency room...Jane babysits and then that makes her friend feel bad because Jane sacrificed when she didn't. Soon her apartment is fixed and her dog is back with her. she starts searching for a job and finds out it was Coates who sent her to the hotel. She starts dating him(kinda) and finding out a whole different life God had for her.
