Forsaking All Others

Forsaking All Others by Allison Pittman.
(The Sister Wife series book two)

Summery:Having run away from the Mormon faith and her family Camilla is found in a terrible snowstorm by Colonel Brandon and his troops. And she is kept in safety with them while she makes plans to stay with her sister until she can go and visit her parents, who she had run away from when she was younger. Otherwise her only plan is to take her children out of the Mormon's false teachings. And find a new home with them.

Romance:Kissing, loving someone, Camilla is married and the had had two children. There is some mention of her husband rubbing her belly and such, the way she slept next to him and he tries to convince her to come back with him, the sleep together that night and though nothing is really described it is best for younger readers not to read that part.later she finds out that she got pregnant form that night. The Colonel who took her in loves her, while she was still married.
Bad Romance:Her husband also took on two other wives. She mentions how she felt when he took another on of his wives in with him instead of her.

Violence:She looses two fingers to frostbite, her father dies of a sickness, she is verbally talked down about what she will get for running away from the faith and such.

Other:Taking on another wife, divorce, though in this case I think it's a good thing. The Mormon beliefs mentioned.

Time Period:1958-1959 (?).

What I Thought:It was so sad how they actually believed stuff like they would become a God in heaven and taking on other wives. That was  areal downer but I love Camilla strength...she wasn't perfect and that made her feel real. And the ending is great...everything kinda works out. It felt like a very well researched book and it was well written.

Rating & Age: 4 stars. 15 up.

I got this book free from the publisher.

Summery:Bella has just taken over her parent's wedding business. She is doing her first themed wedding. It's country themed and for an Italian girl...that could be a little hard to pull off. And she kinda has to prove that she can handle taking on the business. For a minute it looked like things were coming together. She had the flowers, the deejay and the decoration. Then she finds out she made a mistake with the handsome cowboy deejay who just happens to be someone else...though he does love her crazy family life. And maybe her?

Romance:Some kisses, hugging, hand holding, someone liking or/and loving someone.

Violence:Aunt Rosa chasing people with a broom, Bubba's eyebrows are singed off, Bella chokes on a piece of steak, some fainting. And friendly arguing.

What I Thought:I really loved it.It was so funny(the family) the country and Italian mix was great too. Otherwise it was just plain fun and yes, Bella's family did remind of get-togethers with my cousins on my dad's side. Maybe it will happen to you too!

His mission is to get into a rebel (to his shogun), Silver Wolf's, house and steal the plans for a new weapon from the Europeans. But it is heavily guarded and very dangerous. He has hired The Deathless, a ninja that is rumored to be invulnerable, and therefore deathless. And Moonshadow may have a rival. Violence:Several battle scenes(fighting, combat), no one dies though (Spoiler)The Deathless is likely to dead but who knows? Some injuries...some rather serious. Some of the bad guys really want to kill. Some killing in a story told.

O:Snowhawk knocks Moonshadow out by an art, which she says is hypnosis. Mention of buddha. Some visions. A relaxing technique and Moonshadow has an art that allows him to see through the eyes of an animal and somewhat control it. The Deathless has an art that makes him immune to blades.

Time Period:Old Japan (Somewhere in there :)

What I Thought:I loved it! Exciting and such a good plot! There was on battle/combat/fighting scene between two ninjas that was so honorable...why can't we be like that again and not petty? I just loved that part.

Violence:Kidnapping, bullying, mean texts, some threats and yelling/arguing.

Other:Mention of drinking(previous prom, booze was snuck in), shop lifting and depressed mentally ill guy.

Time Period:Modern.

What I Thought:I really liked the characters and the plot.It is somehow different than the other books. It may have been because the main character was African American and that shook up the language(don't you just love the way they talk?I cannot get enough!) and she had such a great inside of the head voice. It goes up there with the first and second book.I didn't like the third as much.

Rating & Age:4 1/2 stars. 13 up.
