Now You See Me...

Now You See Me by Jane B. Mason & Sarah Hines Stephens.
Read my reviews for other Poison Apple books.

Summery:When Lena finds the camera she has been searching for she is ecstatic! But after the reaction of the thrift store owner and how a ghostly looking boy starts showing up in the pictures...
Well it's enough said that she and her friend, Abby, aren't as excited. The boy sees to be trying to tell them something...but what? Can they discover anything to give them a clue?

Violence:Falling of a tower to your death, yelling/arguing.

Other:Ghosts, stealing, Robbie's dad (as they find out) left him and his mother. Mention of possession.

Time Period:Modern.

What I Thought:It wasn't as scary as Her Evil Twin or have as good a story as Midnight Howl. It was okay...but not really great.

Rating & Age: 12/11 up. 2 stars.

Midnight Howl

Midnight Howl by Clare Hutton.

After only a month of school and with her love for her city...Marisol is a little unsure but can't wait to see how beautiful it is and explore. But when she arrives, plagued by some bad dreams of herself being chased in the woods, she soon starts to suspect that her mom's friend's daughter may be...a werewolf.

Romance:Liking/crushing on someone. Also talking about them and how they are cute.

Violence:Mention of werewolves hurting people and people hurting werewolves. Yelling/arguing, a scary dream where Marisol was being chased.

Time Period:Modern.

What I Thought:Interesting story(not really that creepy/scary) with a little mystery and a good bit of fun.

Graceling by Kristen Cashore.
Summery:Katsa has been her uncle, King Randa's,  thug since she got her Grace as a child. Killing everyone said. She's hurt many people because of her uncle.Through her dislike of this she has created a council to help the pheasants and divert bad situations that the Kings could have caused...a sort of rebellion. When rescuing a Lienid man who has been kidnapped. She meets a Lienid prince the same night...who is nearly as good of a fighter as she is. When she meets him, Po, (as she learns) again...well the adventure truly begins.

Romance:Some kisses, hugging, thinking someone as handsome, loving someone.
Bad Romance:Po and Katsa sleep and go all the way. It isn't necessarily very descriptive but you get a pretty clear picture of what happens. She takes a medicine to prevent her getting pregnant. (Pages, if you want to skip it... because you really could, are:233, 234{?}235, 237, 241-243, 247, 467.) The main ones are in bold. The others are just talking about it or making out a bit. Some merchants make some bad comments and try to take advantage of a young girl.

Violence:A lot of fighting/battle/combat scenes, some were wrestling with Po.Others were really fighting or purposely hurting people. Katsa gave bloody deaths or pain when ordered by her uncle. Leck ( bad guy) would injure animals and girls seriously(he was a little wacko and sicko).

Other:Their talents called graces that were given to some people.

Time Period:? It was medieval-ish with a kinda Japanese/Chinese feel.

What I Thought: Other than those few pages it was a wonderfully written book. The characters really grasped me and I could almost see Po the author described him so well. If you want to skip that one part or if it's alright with you than I would highly, highly recommend this also has a great plot :)

Rating & Age:If I count the stuff 4-4 1/2 stars. Overall and ignoring that it would be 5 stars. 14 up.

Amanda also feels torn because of a promise to her dying mother to look after her siblings. Through the cruel was with loved ones on both sides...she will be brave and learn to trust in God and prayer.

Romance:Loving, admiring/thinking about someone, talking about someone you love in a loving way, flirting, some kisses, hugging, holding hands. Innocent implication to wedding nights/marriage.

What I Thought:A great historical fiction story and it had a lot of facts and all the like. The setting and plot was good and so were the characters. My only problem was that it seemed like Kent & Amanda fell in love pretty fast...maybe too fast. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable book!

Rating & Age:4 stars. 14 up.

She is invited to a dance where his brother,Lord Rupert, takes an interest in her.She soon grows fond of Lord Hamlin though. But it couldn't work..he is betrothed and constantly searching for his betrothed's evil villian who wants to hurt her.Though he has never met her he is soon to marry her. Who can tell what will happen in this grand adventure.

Violence:Some beating up/fist fights, a few deaths, an almost hanging, injuries. Moncore, the evil villain after Lord Hamlin's betrothed tries to hurt Rose and somewhat poisons her.

Other:Dark magic.

Time Period: 1386.

What I Thought:Great story, style of writing(I love the fairy tale feeling, it is actually a retelling of Sleeping Beauty. And Melanie really did well with the retelling!) and the plot was great even though you could guess some parts, it wasn't too easy. The characters where nice and solid too. I really liked The Healer,Geruscha, Rose and Hamlin(he is also called Wilhelm). It was a great book!

Rating & Age:5 stars. 13/14 up.

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You

I'd Tell You  I Love You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You by Ally Carter.

Summery:The Gallagher Academy For Exceptional Women is really a school for exceptional girls. They train them to be spies actually if they have the right talents. Cammie Morgan has an interesting life. But her sophomore year was even more so. And that is something to say when you mom is the headmistress of a school for girl spies. When on a Covert Operations mission in the town Cammie meets a normal guy! Josh, and he seems to actually like her. Even though she can hack his email, and speak 14 languages... when it comes to stuff like this she has no clue what to do. Can she make this relationship work?

Romance:Holding hands, a couple kisses (not really any description), liking someone.

Language:D-m-, H--l. Mention without really saying it of the b word.

Violence:Not really descriptive short fighting scenes(she knocks the breath out of a guy, kicks another and some guards are knocked out by the other girls), she wanted to scratch someone's eyes out.

Other:Lying, smoking(very brief).

What I Thought:Great plot idea...girls+spy+school= a great idea! It will make you read the whole book pretty fast :) It was pretty clean so it's a great book for teen girls...pretty funny too. The romance is a big part of the book, but it's pretty innocent.

Rating & Age:4 stars. 13 up.

Romance:Liking/loving someone, hugging, a couple kisses on the cheek and one or so minor ones on the mouth.
Bad Romance:Paige and Dylan sleep together before marriage and (Spoiler!) Dylan is cheating on Paige.

Language: The word H--l is mentioned, but as a place talking about the actual H-ll.

Other:Mention of drinking, (a little only) and Molly, a friend of Erin's is having some depression. She also got pregnant (book 4?) so there might be a little talk about that. Fran's Cancer.

It's a version of Tam Lin.

Language: None.

Violence:Some of the people in the prison had been murders or rapists, arguing/yelling, Kim has some violent dreams because of the guilt, Kim;s mom dies in a car accident, there is another car accident(minor character..I don't think they even get a name...) that Kim witnesses in the mountains.

Other:Nothing really...the maybe divorce thing.

Time Period:Modern.

What I thought:I really liked it. At the beginning it did seems a bit dark...but I think that Kim's friend Aleesha cheered it up a lot. There are some great characters in this book and the story is very meaningful :) I think the first one may have been better, though this one was great as well.

Rating & Age:4 1/2 stars. 14 up.
