Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin.
Summery: Alice's boyfriend has broken up with her and said she lives in her books, not reality. Also being laid of from her job at the library...well she isn't feeling the best. an impulsive decision and she is personally taking some books she collected to a librarian in a small town in Kentucky. When she arrives she has many surprises...likes the town being very small and backward in her eyes. Soon she has been caught up in an adventure she never could have dreamed of...
Romance:Some kisses (lips and cheek), thinking about someone, admiring, flirting, liking/loving someone. There was one scene where a potential suitor cleared Alice's room of a bat. And he was in her bedroom and she was a little uneasy.
Violence: Shooting, faking death, death, murder, a wildcat, injuries.
Other: Feuds, vandalism, abandoning a baby and kind of wanting to hurt it. Talk of slaves and Ku Klux Klan.
Time Period: 1936
What I Thought: It starts off slow, but picks up pretty quickly. Wonderful characters (Lilly, Allie, and Mack) and a wonderful story!!!!!!! It just felt real and full of uniqueness and good quality(searching for the right word!!!!!!!).
