Summery: Sixteen-year-old Finley Jayne and her "straynge band of mysfits" have journeyed from London to America to rescue their friend Jasper, hauled off by bounty hunters. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Romance:Flirting, admiring, liking/loving someone, thinking/talking about someone, several kisses(1 scene which briefly was described with a good deal), hugging/touching.
Inappropriate Romance:Griffin is injured and Finley is watching over him and falls asleep in the same bed (although she not under the blankets and is fully clothed), Jasper and Mei sleep together or lay in the same bed (I believe both may have happened). Griffin sees Finley's bare back when she is injured, but it does not say whether or not he sees more. A joke.comment that was inappropriate, seeing someone's bare chest and enjoying the view. There is an merchant or something of the like who was after Mei and tried to rape her, barely mentioned (it didn't happen and she protected herself)
Language:5 :( I was sad about this when i counted, it didn't seem like that many.
Violence:Threats, yelling/arguments, sparring, fighting, injuries (fatal and minor), hitting or wanting to hit someone, death, murder.
Other:Lying/hiding something, stealing, aether powers (used to see ghosts etc.), manipulation, trickery, mention of selling Chinese immigrant girls into prostitution.
My Thoughts:I have fallen in love with this series and its characters. They lead such exciting lives! Although I liked the first book, The Girl In The Steel Corset, a good bit better than this one... it still had a wonderful plot, conniving villain, a dangerous weapon falling into the wrong hands and a betrayal. :) I was sad when I saw how much language I counted, it didn't seem to be that much when I was reading it. However since there was a good bit and a couple other little problems had with it, I would say teens only for this book. It is a wonderful book though. A grand adventure and you will most certainly love the characters. They're so diverse! I'm not really sure if guys would like it, but for those girls who likes some action...this is your book! And on a little side note, I love the unique way the page before a new chapter is done. The first book had gears and this one had keys I believe. It was great and so steampunk-y :D
